Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Inter-Ministerial Task team, led by Minister in the Presidency Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, will on Wednesday formally release its preliminary investigations into the state of affairs in the North West province.

The team has already recommended that the national government must take total control of the troubled province, by evoking Section 100 of the Constitution.

The task team, comprising of 10 Ministers, spent more than a week in the North West as ordered by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Investigators met with heads of the 13 provincial departments to unravel the allege incapacity, corruption and grand-scale maladministration.

The inter-Ministerial task team had last week presented the preliminary report to cabinet where President Ramaphosa accepted the outcome and wrote a letter to Chairperson of National Council of Provinces’ Thandi Modise, recommending that all departments must be placed under administration.

Two thirds of municipalities in the province were also recommended to be placed under administration.

The team will outline what led to this move and for how long it has made the recommendation.
