Arts and Culture Minister, Nathi Mthethwa says he is touched by the passing of legendary actor and musician Macdonald Mathunjwa.
Mathunjwa who was affectionately called Bra Mac died in the early hours of Monday morning.
He hailed from KwaThema in Springs.
Mathunjwa will be remembered for his many roles on South African television soapies and drama.
They include acting on SABC’s Khululeka, Stokvel, Generations and Soul City.
He also contributed to South African music where he composed songs for many local groups, including the Soul Brothers, Amadodana Ase Wesile, Abigail Kubheka, and Mpharanyana Radebe.

Arts and Culture spokesperson Masechaba Khumalo says, “Minister Nathi Mthethwa said Bra Mac, as he was affectionately known, was a sterling actor and music producer who was loved by many across the lengths and breadths of South Africa.”
“He was a true thespian, an icon and a formidable figure who shaped the arts scene. To the Mathunjwa family, our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love during this difficult time,” says Khumalo.
