Minister Motshekga to give update on state of readiness for the reopening of schools amid COVID-19 third wave

Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga will on Saturday provide an update on the state of readiness for the reopening of schools in South African Monday.

Motshekga is expected to outline the basic education sector’s response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The country moved to an adjusted level 4 lockdown at the end of June in response to the third wave of COVID-19 infections.

This led to the closure of all schools. Addressing the media on Wednesday, acting Minister in Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni says schools in KZN  had been vandalised during the recent looting and protests in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
