Middendorp thanks Bobby, Kaizer Jnr for keeping him

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp has won the Absa Premiership Coach of the Month award for only the second time since his arrival in South Africa in 2005.

Ironically it was also with Chiefs the last time he won this award during his first stint with Amakhosi back in 2005.

A good run of 10 points from a possible 12 in the first four matches of the season and being one-point clear at the top of the log saw Middendorp walking home with this August accolade.

Middendorp has thanked the club’s management, specifically Bobby Motaung and his younger brother Kaizer Junior for keeping him in the job despite underachieving last season.

After seeing Chiefs finishing outside the top eight last season and losing to Glad Africa Championship side TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup final, Middendorp who arrived in December last year at Chiefs has also thanked the supporters for their patience.

Following a bright start into the new season, firing from all angles for SuperSport United, Bafana Bafana striker Bradley Grobler deservedly walked home with the Player of the Month award for August.

Grobler has had a fantastic start this in the league this season, scoring four goals in an as many matches.

Having been troubled by injuries in previous seasons, he took this opportunity to thank the club for believing in him.
