Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane has launched a campaign to educate school children on road safety issues.

Nkosi-Malobane engaged the Tarlton schools in the West Rand as part of the campaign.

She says this follows the 2017 statistics which revealed that many children were killed in our roads as pedestrians.

Nkosi-Malobane says she also engaged the abused children in the area.

“We have observed that a number of young people get killed in our roads, who are pedestrians, and we felt that we need to focus in that area because of the high number of accidents. By targeting those young people in terms of teaching them the importance of road safety, we will be able to assist in terms of reducing road fatalities,” adds Nkosi-Malobane.
