Ntuthuko Mdluli will be overseeing the 24th musical awards to be held in June at the Sun City resort in the North West.

The Recording industry of South Africa (RISA) has appointed Ntuthuko Mdluli as the new chairperson of the South African Music Awards.

Ntuthuko is the first woman to occupy the position.

She will be overseeing the 24th musical awards to be held in June at the Sun City resort in the North West.

Mdluli started out as a musician but says from early on in the industry she was more on the business and administration side of music.

She is also a founding member of Jaziel music productions.

She says: “I am really honoured to have been appointed as the chairlady of the SAMA’s. I really don’t take the SAMA’S as a very light thing because its one of the biggest events that we have in terms of the South African music industry.”

“My entry within the music industry – I was a musician but I abandoned that very early. I was more fascinated with the business and the actual administration that comes to the music industry, so what I decided to do was to focus mostly on the business of music.”
