Kwanda Mngonyama has joined the Cape Town City from Maritzburg United.

Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy has expressed his excitement that Citizens have managed to secure the signature of defender Kwanda Mngonyama from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mngonyama was playing for Maritzburg United on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Mother City based club confirmed the news on their Twitter page on Friday morning.

McCarthy believes Mngonyama is a rare talent ever produced in South African football.

“When I heard there was a chance for City to land Kwanda, I was instantly excited. Mngonyama is a soldier and probably one of the most promising defensive talents to come out of South Africa in a long time,” says McCarthy on the club’s Twitter page.

McCarthy went on say he looks to drive the youngster to the right direction in his football career.

“Seeing where the club is going, building for the future, this was a key acquisition for us. I can’t wait to start working with the young man and get him to where he should be,” says McCarthy.
