McCain sliced beans, Spar stir fry products recalled, small glass fragments found in products

The National Consumer Commission is urging consumers to return certain McCain sliced beans and Spar stir fry products to their points of purchase for a refund.

The Commission says the supplier initiated the recall after finding small fragments of glass in the products.

Acting Commissioner Thezi Mabuza says the products were packaged in 2021 with “best before” dates of between 2022 and 2023.

Mabuza says the Consumer Commission is monitoring the recall and is urging the supplier to conduct more investigations to mitigate further risk.

Kit Kat recalled

Just last month, Nestlé South Africa recalled some of its Kit Kat bars due to the possibility that they may contain pieces of glass.

In a statement, Nestlé had said it had not received any reports of complaints or injuries. It said it as taking the step as a precautionary measure after finding small pieces of glass in quality and safety checks.

The products affected were the Kit Kat Mini Bag Milk 32 by 200 grams and the Kit Kat Two Finger Milk bar 36 by 20 grams.

The best before dates for both products are September 30 and October this year.
