Outgoing African National Congress (ANC) national chairperson Baleka Mbete says she is not worried about any backlash following her decision to officially endorse Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa for the position of party president.
Mbete who has availed herself to serve in the top leadership of the party made the announcement Saturday night.
Leadership contestation at the ANC’s 54 national conference currently under way at Nasrec in Johannesburg has turned into a two-horse race between Ramaphosa and MP Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
Mbete is one of the three female candidates who were vying for the ANC presidency but did not garner enough provincial nominations.
