Former president Thabo Mbeki pays tribute to Winnie Madikizela-Mandela through a moving poem. In the poem, Mbeki hails Madikizela-Mandela’s resilience and wisdom.
“In comrade Winnie Mandela the people of South Africa have lost yet another giant and icon of the liberation struggle. Even death itself cannot claim victory. It is shamed because it does not have the power to erase from memory, the dedication, the commitment, the willingness to sacrifice and strength of the human spirit to fight for the cause of freedom and justice which she represented,” says Mbeki.
