Former ANC president Thabo Mbeki is in the Western Cape where he is meeting with leaders and members in an attempt to revive the party.

Mbeki will spend two days in the province interacting with party provincial structures.

The Western Cape is the only province that is not governed by the ANC.

This after, protracted infighting within the ANC in the province cost it both the Cape Metro and the provincial government to the DA several years ago.

The ANC hopes it can draw from the wisdom of Mbeki to rebuild the province.

Provincial convenor Lerumo Kalako explains,  “The decision was taken that we call comrade Thabo so that we can tap into his knowledge, in the main we’re seeking all solutions towards rebuilding the ANC and dealing with all the challenges we have as the ANC especially here in the province.”
