Mbalula sends stern warning to criminals

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has again sent a stern warning to criminals who use force against police officers. Mbalula says violence against the police is direct violence against the state and should be responded to as such. He was addressing hundreds of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) members outside Pretoria.

The firebrand Minister wants the killing of police officers to be nipped in the bud.  He has urged the men and women in blue to respond with force when under attack. “Fire will be responded to and not with a bucket of water. I see people march against farm murders; I have never seen people marching against the murder of the police.”

He also wants crimes targeted at international arrivals at the OR Tambo airport to be brought under control. Mbalula says that all criminals will soon feel the sting of law enforcement. “We allowed crime to get out of hand and live with it as if is a normality. Let us reverse the situation. Criminals must be squeezed and crush their balls. We must crush the balls after they have been squeezed. “

Mbalula assured Popcru that a new national police commissioner would be announced soon. Meanwhile, Popcru has reiterated its support for Cyril Ramaphosa to become the ANC’s next President. The police union lamented the lack of political will to investigate corruption at state owned entities. Click below for more on the story:
