Mbalula leads road safety campaign in Durban area

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula will on Sunday lead an integrated road safety campaign and inspections of various establishments in various areas around Durban.

The campaign will commence at Umlazi then move to KwaMashu and end at the Durban CBD. Mbalula will be joined by KZN Premier Sihle Zikalala.

The aim of this campaign is to promote road safety this festive season and also to avoid accidents which might overwhelm hospitals as they fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier in the month, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison Bheki Ntuli officially launched the Festive Season Integrated Law Enforcement Safety Plan.

Traffic volumes at tolls in KwaZulu-Natal remain high as holidaymakers travel in and out of the province, despite the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. Authorities have issued holidaymakers with stern warnings to continue to adhere to COVID-19 protocols even on holiday.
