Mbalula humbled by ANC nomination

Reading Time: 2 minutes

ANC NEC member Fikile Mbalula says he is humbled by being nominated by ANC branches to stand for the secretary general position of the leadership election of the ruling party. Mbalula is challenging the incumbent, Gwede Mantashe. The party’s electoral commission announced the nominations for the top six positions during the second day of the national elective conference in Mangaung. Mbalula says he expects a vibrant democratic process in the party. He says regardless of what the results are today, he will always remain an ANC member. “The ANC belongs to all of us. It does not belong to anyone who wins the conference. Win or lose – one thing that cannot be taken away from you is your membership. If you have got an inferiority complex and a political complex about standing, you will think that the question of standing is a do or die. It is unfortunate that other people define it like that. But for me personally who is involved in the process I still understand that the sun will rise from the east tomorrow morning,” says Mbalula.
