Democratic Alliance (DA) member of the Eskom Parliamentary inquiry, Natasha Mazzone, has refuted former Eskom Acting CEO Matshela Koko’s testimony that he personally paid all the costs for his trip to Dubai in January 2016.

When Koko was cross-examined by evidence leader Nthuthuzelo Vanara on Wednesday night, Koko said he had paid for all the costs himself.

However, Mazonne told Koko there is evidence that Gupta-linked Sahara Computers paid Koko’s travel and hotel accommodation in Dubai.

She says, “The account for your stay and details of your stay have been made public and what it does shows that Mr Ashu Chawla was also in Dubai for one day with you. He was staying in the hotel with you and the e-mail actually shows that your bookings were done together.”

Mazonne adds, “ And they were done through Sahara Computers and  your reservation number was 467415. You arrived on the 4th of January at  5:55 AM and you arrived on flight  EK399. And it shows your departure being the 5th of January 2016, leaving Dubai to come back to South Africa the same time as Mr Ashu Chawla.”
