May’s confident of a good deal with EU on Brexit

UK Prime Minister Theresa May says that the time for arguing either side of the Brexit referendum is over.

May also says that Britain’s financial sector is too important to the economy to allow a post-Brexit relationship that did not allow its regulators to set their own rules.

The Prime Minister says she is confident of a deal while accepting that the UK could not expect the same market access in some areas.

In a much-anticipated speech on Friday, May set out ambitions for a tailor-made free trade deal that would include financial services and said Britain would aim for associate membership of EU regulators covering chemicals, medicines and aerospace.
