Western Cape Education Minister, Debbie Schafer, has called on matriculants to get vaccinated ahead of their final examinations.

She says provision has been made to prioritise eligible learners to be vaccinated at specific sites.

Schafer says the provincial Health Department will assist to make arrangements once names are submitted and consent given to educational districts.

“We are again being assisted by the provincial Department of Health (DoH) to make specific arrangements to prioritise our learners at specific vaccination sites. A letter from the Head of Department outlining the process was sent to schools last week explaining how schools can assist consenting matric learners to get vaccinated. Vaccines really are the only way we are going to find our way back to some semblance of normality in our sector, and our society,” says Debbie Schafer.
