Maswanganyi defends Dudu Myeni appointment

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Transport Minister Joe Maswanganyi has defended his decision to appoint former SAA Board Chairperson Dudu Myeni as his adviser.

Myeni has landed the top job only months after her term ended as the airline’s board chairperson amid reports suggesting she’d been ousted.

Opposition parties have strongly criticised her new appointment.

Maswanganyi, who spoke to the SABC during the launch of the holiday road safety campaign, says there’s nothing to disqualify Myeni.

“She is a South African who is fit and proper. She has never been found guilty by any court of law. If you are a South African who is fit and proper, with relevant experience from the SOEs sector, I can employ that person, if that person qualifies.”
