Masutha pleased with Momberg sentencing

Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Advocate Michael Masutha has shown excitement on the sentence that was granted to Vicki Momberg over racial remarks against black police officers who were trying to assist her after a smash-and-grab incident.

On Wednesday Momberg was sentenced to three years imprisonment, with one year suspended for three years, should she not re-offend in terms of crimen injura.

Masutha says, “I think this sends a positive message to both victims and perpetrators of racism that the rule of law shall prevail in South Africa. So we are very pleased with the outcome.”
