Justice Minister  Ronald Lamola has announced that his department will shut down all the Masters Offices on Tuesday. This as it continues with search and seizure operations at all the offices in the country.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorized the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to investigate allegations of fraud, corruption and maladministration at the offices countrywide.

The offices will re-open on Wednesday.

Lamola says they have been inundated with complaints from members of the public on alleged corruption and maladministration at the offices.

“This investigation was necessitated by several allegations of maladministration and corruption and the Mpumalanga case where it is alleged that an official in the masters amassed R1.7 million through fraudulent activities which further highlighted the need for an investigation of this nature,” says Lamola.
