Masina confident ANC will win Gauteng

Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina says he is confident that the ANC will win Gauteng with an outright majority because there’s leadership unity.

Masina says the party lost Tshwane and Johannesburg in the 2016 municipal elections because of divisions in the party.

He cast his vote at Mogobeng Primary School in Katlehong.

Masina says after this election, the ANC government at both national and provincial levels must work closely with municipalities to create jobs and and grow the economy.

He says: “All liberation movements after 25 years lose power on the continent. So this for us is a referendum whether or not South Africans will still give us another 25 years or so to govern.”

“But we are confident that we have spent a lot of time self-correcting because you see the defeat of the ANC in 2015 in the province in metros in particular was basically because there was no leadership, unity and coherence. That created a number of challenges and now I think the ANC is one and there is one leadership.”
