The Limpopo provincial government says the two-week long Marula festivities in Phalaborwa helps to boost the province’s economy. The festival is used to showcase the Marula-made products such as soaps, oil and jam amongst others.

Accommodation establishments in Phalaborwa and the two neighbouring townships are fully booked. Provincial government spokesperson Phuti Seloba says thousands of revellers who are attending the festival are likely to come back after the event to experience tourism in the area.

“Marula festival is one of our flagship projects firstly we are looking at sustainable tourism or increasing tourism because most people who are coming for the Marula festival will definitely come back or do share the word with others and we are getting more people who are visiting our province and we have a number of co-operatives who are brewing the Marula beer and they are benefiting during this time.”

Happy #MarulaMonth y’all! Whatever you do this month make sure you indulge in Marula products. You’ll thank me later ?#MarulaFestival2018 #GoLimpopo #MoreToEnjoy ??? pic.twitter.com/upbLg0khwO
