A trial against five Marikana men is to resume on Monday at the North West High Court sitting in Mogwase near Sun City in North West.

The five are facing a murder charge linked to the killing of a local councillor Sabata Chale in 2016.

This is after the community was alarmed to find their names not reflecting on the list of beneficiaries of RDP houses.

Initially 13 people were arrested and charged, including Marikana community activist Napoleon Webster.

Charges against the six including Webster were withdrawn due to lack of evidence about their involvement .

Chale was hacked to death in December 2016, for compiling a list of those who were supposed to occupy new government subsidy houses.

The community accused him of allocating houses to non- residents.

The two state witnesses under state protection emphasised during the previous sittings that there were many people who were involved in the killing of Chale.

They told the court that some of them were not arrested.

Court proceedings are expected to continue for the rest of the week.
