President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared a Special Official Funeral Category 2 for business icon Dr Richard Maponya.
Maponya is set to be laid to rest next Tuesday in Johannesburg.
A memorial service to honour his life and legacy will be held on Friday at the Rosebank Union Church in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.
Maponya 99 died in hospital on Monday following a short illness.
Presidency spokesperson Khusela Diko says, “A special official funeral Category 2 is declared for distinguished persons specifically designated by the president of the republic of South Africa.”
“The president has also directed that the national flag must fly half-mast from Friday until the evening of the burial on Tuesday,” added Diko.
