The South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca) says it believes there are still many more people responsible for the corruption and maladministration that happened at South African Airways (SAA) that are not mentioned in the State Capture report.

The report details how state security resources were used to aid the State capture project at state-owned enterprises such as SAA.

The investigation revealed there was a steady decline in the quality and effectiveness of the governance at SAA from 2012 onwards, under the leadership of former Board Chairperson Duduzile Myeni, her co-Board member Yakhe Kwinana, Chairperson of South African Airways Technical (SAAT).

In the November 2020 video below, Yakhe Kwinana says there is nothing wrong with being wined and dined by a bidder whilst a tender is open:

Sacca spokesperson Zazi Nsibanyoni-Mugambi says they have opened cases against management at the airline over the years and nothing came out of it.

“We have lived and breathed through many years of the systematic decay of the South African Airways, and for us as much as the report points to certain individuals, for us this report does not begin to peel through those layers that I speak about.”

“Even before Dudu Myeni and the previous Board and the current Board at SAA. For us, much more has happened at SAA to lead it to where it is today,” she says.
