Mineral Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe has welcomed the R70 billion investment by mining company Anglo American. He says government’s speedy efforts of finalising the Mining Charter takes policy uncertainty off the table and should encourage increased investment into the mining sector.
Anglo America is one of the 10 companies which announced that they would be investing an accumulative of around R130 billion into the South African economy. They made the announcement at the investment summit currently underway in the north of Johannesburg.
Gwede says there is room for greater investment by other private sector participants.
