African National Congress national chairperson, Gwede Mantashe, has accused the media of trying to influence the agenda regarding President Jacob Zuma’s future.

On Saturday Mantashe addressed thousands of African National Congress (ANC) members during the 106th birthday celebrations at Lukwatini stadium in Mpumalanga.

He says South Africans should not rush the ANC as it is dealing with the issue strategically.

“The media has tried to set the agenda for us, that we meeting today… or we met; We are going to meet with the president… we are meeting as the leadership of the ANC…. One – I think there’s an agreement on the end game, where we should end. What is being discussed is the timing, and the process that should be followed, and people don’t want us to think through issues, they want us to into issues, we must be allowed to resolve a very complex situation carefully.”
