North West police have launched a manhunt for four armed men who allegedly shot and killed a 64-year-old man at his home at Joubert on, near Klerksdorp.

It is alleged that the men, who were pretending to be police officers in uniform, entered a house demanding to see the victim’s son.

They allegedly shot him, after he told them his son was not home.

North West police’s  Amanda Funani says, “The victim’s daughter went to check what was happening, but was also shot on her lower body.   The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage and investigation into the matter continues.”

“The police request anyone who have information that can assist in the investigation to contact the Investigating Officer, Warrant Officer Mangaliso Mosiea on 072 476 4679 or call South African Police Service (SAPS) crime stop number: 08600 10111.”

Meanwhile, Mpumalanga police are investigating two cases of murder following the discovery of two bodies in a house in Mataffin township, outside Mbombela last week.

It’s believed the victims, 54-year-old Thando Maseko and her 28-year-old son, Sphiwo Mkhonto, were murdered in their home.
