The African National Congress (ANC) in the Mangaung Region in Bloemfontein has opened a case against a man who allegedly hatched a plot to assassinate the party’s Secretary-General Ace Magashule.

Mangaung ANC Deputy Chairperson Patrick Monyakwane says they have seen messages on a social media platform regarding the alleged plot.

Monyakwane says they were left with no option but approach the police.

“We just opened the case against Phupha Mzwandile because he said he will kill secretary general of the ANC, which is a serious threat. Now I’m just saying to ANC members they must distance themselves against this thing of Mzwandile Phupha. This is a serious threat against secretary general.”

Meanwhile, the man accused of being involved in the alleged plot, Mzwandile Phupha, has declined to comment.
