The Nelson Mandela Museum in Umtata is key to preserving the history of Nelson Mandela.
Initially opened in 2000 the museum has in 2014 undergone massive renovations.
Housing a lot of the gifts that Mandela received during his lifetime, the museum has extended their work to remembering the former statesman as the country celebrates his life, this in his centenary year.
SABC News caught up with tour guide Zimisele Gamakhulu who gave insight as to how they are preserving Mandela’s heritage.
