Mandela estate saga continues in 2015

As the world continues to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s legacy, squabbles in the Mandela family continue.

In 2014, news of his former wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela seeking ownership of Nelson Mandela’s Qunu home made headlines.
The executors of the estate of former President Nelson Mandela then announced that they will oppose a legal bid by his Madikizela-Mandela to claim Madiba’s Qunu home in the Eastern Cape.

South Africans can expect to see the matter play out in the public scene and possibly in court in 2015.

According to the will, Mandela’s homes in Qunu and Johannesburg will be held in the Nelson Mandela Family Trust. Executor, Justice Dikgang Moseneke says that had tried to resolve the dispute amicably, but Winfred Mandela’s claim to claiming the home was in opposition with the late statesman’s final wishes.
