Mduduzi Manana says he has learnt the hard way and has urged all men in the country to respect and protect women and children.

Former Higher Education Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana says he is complying with the court order after the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in the north of Johannesburg found him guilty of assaulting three women at a Johannesburg night club in August.

Manana was sentenced to 12 months in prison or a R100 000 fine, doing community service and attending an anger management programme.

He says he paid the fine a day after he was sentenced.

“I am complying with the orders of the court and I am happy that the law has taken its course. I’ve always maintained that no one is above the law as a public representative, I am not above the law in fact I am supposed to be living by example and unfortunately this happened for which I am truly regretful and I’m glad that the law did not favour me in anyway and that the justice acted fairly without favour or prejudice,” says Manana.
