Mduduzi Manana has offered to pay the medical bills and has asked the court for leniency.

Former Deputy Higher Education Minister Mduduzi Manana is expected to be sentenced on Tuesday in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court, in Gauteng.

Manana was convicted of three counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court after he pleaded guilty.

He was charged after assaulting two women at a nightclub in Johannesburg during Women’s month.

In September, Manana admitted to the assault of two women at the Cubana night club in Fourways, after initially saying he was provoked.

Video footage of the attack went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage. Manana then resigned from his ministerial position.
