The man who was allegedly caught red handed setting four fires on the slopes of Table Mountain will appear in the local magistrate’s court on Thursday.
The City of Cape Town’s Safety and Security unit will conduct its own investigation into the suspected arsonist.
The 33-year-old foreign national was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.
Mayoral Committee member for Safety and Security JP Smith says they will be tracking with interest the case against the accused arsonist.
He says the City’s Safety and Security internal investigations unit will conduct watching briefs and a shadow investigation in support of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and carefully track the case which is of significant public interest.
