Man convicted of homicide in Mhere case to be sentenced

Simba Mhere and Kady-Shay O'Bryan died in a car crash on William Nicol Drive in Fourways in January 2015, when a car driven by Preshalin Naidoo crashed in to their car.

Preshalin Naidoo the man convicted of two counts of culpable homicide of Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere and his friend Kady-Shay O’Bryan, is expected to be back in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday for sentencing.

Mhere and O’Bryan died in a car crash on William Nicol Drive in Fourways in January 2015, when a car driven by Naidoo crashed in to theirs.

Naidoo’s vehicle tracking company told the court that just a few days before the crash they recorded 37 incidents of his vehicle exceeding the speed limit.

However, during the trial, Naidoo said via an affidavit that the crash was caused by a mechanical malfunction of his vehicle and not due to negligent driving.
