A man has been arrested in Dobsonville, Soweto following a fatal shooting of a police woman. On Saturday, members of the police had just buried one of their own and were having refreshments after the funeral.
It is alleged that a member of the public, who was also attending the funeral, fired shots in the air and the constable was hit. She was rushed to hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.
“Police Service in Gauteng is saddened on learning of the timely passing of the 40-year-old female constable stationed at Dobsonville. The Provincial Commissioner has extended his sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of the deceased,” says Police Spokesperson Mavela Masondo.
