A 25-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of the body of a girl in a shallow grave in Eastridge in Mitchell’s Plain on the Cape Flats.
The body is believed to be that of six-year-old Stacey Adams who was reported missing by her grandmother on Saturday.
She was apparently walking to her mother’s house in the same area.
Police spokesperson, Andre Traut says the suspect shares a house with her mother.
Traut says: “While a male person who is a resident at the house was questioned, community members became aggressive and made an attempt to harm the 25 year old man. Stones were thrown at police and the house of the suspect was petrol bombed and set alight.”
The circumstances surrounding the murder and a charge of public violence are being investigated.
