German Ambassador Dr Horst Freitag handed over a cheque worth R70 million to the acting Executive Mayor, Terence Mashego, to make Mamelodi East a safer place for its residents.

During a concert to celebrate “20/25: 20 years fall of Apartheid, 25 years fall of the Berlin Wall” in Moretele Park in Mamelodi, Dr Freitag took the opportunity to reaffirm Germany’s support to South Africa in overcoming the legacies of the apartheid regime.

In South Africa, people from all walks of life came together at Moretele Park in Mamelodi to celebrate this freedom. The event marks 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall – an event synonymous with the end of the cold war and a symbol of freedom.
