She was presented with a South African jersey numbered 100 at the end of Banyana’s 3-0 win over Madagascar. Makhabane admits a hundred caps is a great achievement.

Banyana Banyana midfielder Mamello Makhabane joined the centurion club on Monday against Madagascar at the on-going Women’s Cosafa Cup in Port Elizabeth.

Makhabane made her debut in 2005 against Zimbabwe where she scored a hat-trick.

She was presented with a South African jersey numbered 100 at the end of Banyana’s 3-0 win over Madagascar. Makhabane admits a hundred caps is a great achievement.

Reflecting on her 14 year journey, Makhabane concedes it has been a challenging one, disturbed by injuries however she is grateful she never gave up.

Coach Desiree Ellis congratulated the midfielder saying the player has persevered despite all her troubling injuries that saw her miss big tournaments like the 2012 Olympics Games.

Ellis says no one is more deserving to come so far like Makhabane.
