Malinga to be laid to rest

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The funeral service of Afro Pop legend, Robbie Malinga, will get under way at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg in the north of Johannesburg at 8am on Tuesday morning.

The singer, songwriter and producer died on Christmas Day.

He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

A memorial service for Malinga was held last Friday, with speaker after speaker describing him as a jovial son of the soil.

He will be laid to rest at Heroes Acre at West Park Cemetery.

Kwaito veteran Doc Shebeleza says, “Uh you know Robbie Malinga … he was a snappy dresser and he liked to tease people and say things like “I can see you don’t have a producer, look at the way you’re dressed! You know that was Robbie. We [were] friends beyond business people; we did extremely well … but on Christmas Day, when he died he was surrounded by family.”
