Malema urges students to vaccinate against coronavirus

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander In Chief Julius Malema has urged students at higher learning to vaccinate against coronavirus. He was addressing hundreds of students at the University of Venda in Thohoyandou during the celebration of the EFF Student Command’s victory in this month’s SRC elections.

The EFF won by 4 000 votes against their opponents.

A sea of red painted the university’s sports ground. Malema says that EFF Student Command victory in the SRC elections is a sign that students love EFF.

Malema has encouraged students to vaccinate but says the programme should not be forced. “I will never agree much as I have vaccinated, I will never agree that someone must be forced to vaccinate, they must make a personal choice, we have a constitution in this country, it protects personal (choice), no one must force anyone to vaccinate.”

He also made a call to institutions of higher learning to provide free sanitary towels to female students and offer graduates allowances.

“If they don’t give you jobs they must give you a graduates allowance,  when we introduce this they say no it’s madness, we are not fighting for these ones who are graduating at Univen, we are fighting for those who are still coming.”

The victory celebration comes just a few days before the local government elections. Univen SRC President Smile Manganyi says the celebration is not a campaign for local government elections.

“This is not a campaign, we are celebrating the victory of the eff student command, we won elections with distinction as the EFF student command we got 4 700 votes.”

Malema also addressed a rally at the University of Limpopo, where the EFF Student Command has also won SRC elections.
