Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says he is suing the party’s former Member of Parliament Thembinkosi Rawula for R1 million after he accused him and deputy Floyd Shivambu of financial mismanagement and accepting a donation from VBS Mutual Bank.
Malema announced this during a press briefing at the party’s headquarters in Braamfontein.
Rawula recently took to social media – Facebook to reveal the allegations. He has since resigned from the party.
Malema says the party is ready to provide statements in a court of law to show that they are not taking EFF money unlawfully.
Malema has labelled the threats of burning a book on African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Ace Magashule as acts of thuggery.
On Tuesday, members of the ANC Youth League disrupted the launch of investigative journalist Pieter-Louis Myburgh’s book ‘Gangster State: Unravelling Ace Magashule’s web of capture’ at Exclusive Books in Sandton City.
The ANC Youth League in the Free State has also threatened to burn copies of the book on Monday. Malema says this is totally unacceptable.
EFF confident will govern at least three provinces
Meanwhile, the EFF is adamant that they will govern in at least three provinces after the May 8 elections.
Recent polls by Ipsos have shown that after election, the EFF will at least become the official opposition in Gauteng, North West and Limpopo.
Malema says the party is not interested in becoming the official opposition they are aiming to govern the provinces.

#EFFPresser Malema: We reiterate that our finical standing as an organisation is at its best, demonstrated by the fact that parliament, legislatures and the IEC have all given EFF money for five years.
