Economic Freedom Fighters( EFF) leader Julius Malema says his party will ensure that issues raised by the community of Itsoseng, outside Mabopane, north of Pretoria, will be taken to Parliament. Malema was addressing supporters ahead of his party’s manifesto launch in Soshanguve on Saturday.

Residents have raised issues such as nepotism, lack of transparency, a lack of basic services and scholar transport. Malema urged residents to remember all their struggles as they cast their votes.

“On the day of voting you all forget that. Your children travel kilometres and kilometres. On the day of voting you all forget that. Remember those who died in the wheelbarrows, at the back of bakkies on the way to the hospital. Remember the women who are giving birth in these shacks.”

The community say that their main issue is the lack of service delivery.

“Our complaint is about basic service delivery; the lack of houses, lack of roads, water and electricity. Young people are unemployed. They say they need jobs because jobs are given to relatives and there is no transparency.”

Malema vowed to take issues raised by the community to Parliament so that they receive attention.

“So we have committed to raise those issues in Parliament. We have committed that some of these issues ourselves will deal with them, including the removal of our people from their pieces of land. We have asked our people not to use t-shirts or food parcels to influence them to decide their vote. They must decide on what constitutes the future of their children.”
