EFF leader Julius Malema has discouraged people who threaten not to vote come the May election. The firebrand leader has also condemned violence during protests.

He was in Ventersdorp in the North West campaigning for his party.

Addressing residents at Ventersdorp’s Tshing township, Malema, urged residents to refrain from destroying property when protesting. He encouraged them to instead come out in numbers to vote on 8 May.

“Anyone who says ‘I’m not going to vote’ is an ANC person who has not made it to the list or his group has not made it to the list. It’s a factional battle. The real person, who’s got real demands, will know that ‘I must actually wake up at five o’clock on the 8th of May and go and vote out these people who have denied me this or that service.’”

Malema has expressed confidence that his party will do well in the North West.

“Our people in North West are tired of the ANC. And they are saying the EFF is the only solution to the problems they are confronted with and we will indeed not disappoint them.”

EFF supporters are also optimistic that their party will bring change in the province.

“The EFF is bringing back the land to black people, to the rightful owners. Without land, we are nothing.”

Malema says the EFF’s priority is to improve the country’s ailing health system among other priorities.
