EFF leader Julius Malema has commended the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for its work during this week’s local government elections.

He addressed the media at IEC National Results Operations Centre in Pretoria, as the country awaits the IEC’s official announcement of the election results on Thursday evening.

Malema says the IEC’s introduction of technology during the elections is commendable and shows that the country’s electoral system is moving with the times.

Meanwhile, Malema says his party is ready to go into a coalition with any political party across the country, as more than 50 municipalities are hung, after the Monday local government elections.

He says coalitions are going to be a common occurrence in the country. And the EFF is up for any possible arrangements that will see service delivery going to the millions of people who depend on government for such.

The EFF hasn’t won any municipality in the country and therefore, Malema says they are open to coalitions, as long as there’s mutual respect between the involved parties in such a coalition.

MALEMA: We appreciate the IEC which provided devices for management.

What excites us in the EFF is that there’s introduction. That device can provide data of who voted where and gender. It must be welcome and more electronic means must be introduced. #EFFPresser
