Majodina discourages disruptions during SONA

Reading Time: < 1 minute

African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina says true leaders have constructive ways of engaging, rather than promoting disruption.

This as the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has threatened to disrupt the State of the Nation Address (SONA) if President Cyril Ramaphosa does not fire Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan Thursday evening.

The party says Gordhan has misled the President about the state of affairs at Eskom.

Majodina says grievances can be raised through various platforms.

“Those threats of disruption will not be entertained here. All parties agree that the decorum of the house must be kept in its form and nature. So, presiding officers must invoke the joint rules…there are platforms, but not through disruption. We cannot have a leader that promotes disruption.”
