Maimane calls for impeachment process against Zuma

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane says the impeachment process has to begin against the President Jacob Zuma.

Maimane’s statement comes shortly after the Constitution Court ruled that parliament failed to hold Zuma accountable following the court’s ruling on Nkandla.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and other parties brought the case in a bid to seek impeachment proceedings against Zuma with regard to upgrades to his private home in Nkandla.

On his Twitter account, Maimane says, “I have always maintained Baleka Mbete acted as the Chairperson of the African National Congress not as Speaker of National Assembly. We must begin impeachment process against a President who has looted states resources and violated Section 89 on Nkandla judgment. Majoritarianism cannot be the limitation to the process.”
