Mahikeng residents reject Gupta-linked Mediosa mobile clinic

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Residents of Madibogo village outside Mahikeng in the North West say they prefer to use the provincial Health Department’s services as opposed to those provided by the controversial Gupta-Linked Mediosa.

The community alleges that the services that the mobile clinic offers is screening after which patients are referred to the department’s health facilities.

Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi was in their area last Friday and said the mobile centre was a duplication of the department’s services.

Meanwhile, Premier Supra Mahumapelo‘s office says forensic investigations into the use of the mobile clinics have already begun.

Some of the residents who used the Mediosa services say: “I went to their vehicle in Motsitlane. It did not help me at all. I came back empty handed. When you go to them for consultation they just give you the letter and refer you back to the health centre. They said there is a problem with my eyes and they said I must go to the hospital to get spectacles.”
