Police are still searching for four inmates who escaped from the Rooigrond Correctional Services centre in Mahikeng, North West last week.
They were serving life time sentences when they escaped during sports day games.
Police described the four inmates Mandisi Mandi Makanda (31) Simphiwe Sir Makanda (35) Alfred Madela (40) and Nkululo Vava (32) as very dangerous.
The fifth inmate has been re-arrested.
Correctional Services spokesperson, Tshidi Mapole says: “During the sports day they managed to disarm an officer and escape the facility.”
“Wherever they are now, they are armed and dangerous. We just want to appeal to the public to assist the department to arrest the escapees by phoning the nearest police station,” says Mapole.
