ANC Deputy President David Mabuza has expressed optimism about the party’s performance in the upcoming local government elections (LGE).

Mabuza says the electorate still respects the governing party despite the service delivery challenges they are encountering.

Mabuza is in a two-day election campaign in the Mankweng area outside Polokwane in Limpopo.

“We are very happy about the respect that our people are giving us, our people still respect, we need to shape ourselves otherwise there’s still nothing wrong with our people. Our people are telling us about two things here they have a problem, with sanitation problems, with flooding into their houses when it is raining, they have got a problem with water. We are very encouraged that all saying they are going to vote ANC.”

Meanwhile, some potential voters who have interacted with Mabuza have expressed concerns about the lack of water and poor state of roads.

“It’s good that the country leaders are here in our community. I’m grateful for that but I think South Africa as a country is ready for a coalition government just to balance the forces of power. Maybe service delivery, it can improve in the country the roads are not so well. I feel great deputy president entered my house.”
